If a tenant still refuses to leave before the expiry date of the possession order then the landlord can then contact the court bailiffs. If using the online possession system then the bailiff can also be booked online.
The bailiff will make a number of visits to the property in order to try to persuade the tenant to leave. A date will be given such that if the tenant has not left voluntarily by then the bailiff will forcibly remove the tenant.
In situations where the tenant is considered dangerous the police will also be asked to attend. This can delay the final date of eviction.
The landlord or their representative should be present when the property is repossessed and have the locks changed in order to prevent the evicted tenant from repossessing the property.
